Our Publications
Latrobe Valley Naturalist
The club’s magazine, the Latrobe Valley Naturalist, includes write-ups of presentations at our general meetings and of general excursions and club camps. Short articles describing individual members’ natural history observations are encouraged. Upcoming events are highlighted and summary reports for the monthly business meetings are included.
The first issue appeared in 1963, the inspiration of George Scanlan, who edited it for the first six years. Publication has been continuous ever since, and it currently appears bi-monthly (six issues per year). An annual index appears in the first issue each year.
The current editor is Tamara Leitch, who took over in 2015. Just two members have edited the LV Naturalist for much of the club’s life, namely Lorna Long for 18 years from 1970 and Gill Bremner for 23 years from 1992.
All club members receive the electronic version (which also includes appendices such as field trip plant and bird lists), and may elect to have a mailed printed copy on payment of a higher subscription fee. You can find the latest version of the magazine here.
